🚀 Getting Started
Install SyncForge directly from the Shopify App Store. Click "Add app", authorize the required permissions, and you're ready to go. No credit card required for the free plan.
SyncForge supports CSV, XLSX (Excel), JSON, and XML for both import and export. File format is auto-detected based on extension, or you can specify it manually in the import wizard.
SyncForge supports 22 Shopify resources including Products, Variants, Customers, Collections, Orders, Draft Orders, Pages, Blogs, Articles, Inventory Items, Metafields, Locations, Files, and more. Some resources (like Orders and Locations) are export-only.
📥 Importing Data
After uploading your file, SyncForge shows a drag-and-drop mapping editor. Your source columns are on the left, Shopify fields on the right. Drag to connect them, or use the "Auto-Map All" button for intelligent automatic matching based on column name similarity.
Transforms modify your data during import — trim whitespace, change case, format dates, convert numbers, apply templates, and more. SyncForge offers 80+ built-in transforms that you can chain together in any order via the transform pipeline builder.
Yes! The import wizard includes a preview step that shows exactly what will be created, updated, or skipped. You can also use Dry-Run mode to simulate the entire import without making any changes to your Shopify store.
📤 Exporting Data
Absolutely. The export wizard lets you select exactly which fields to include, apply filters to narrow down records, and choose your output format (CSV, XLSX, JSON, or XML). You can also save export configurations as reusable templates.
Navigate to Sync Center, click "+ Export", select "Orders" as your resource type, choose the fields you want, optionally filter by date range or status, and click Export. The file will be generated and available for download.
Yes. Set up a Connection (FTP, SFTP, S3, or Google Sheets) in the Sync Center, then select it as the export destination. Combined with scheduling, this enables fully automated recurring exports.
🔗 Connections
SyncForge supports FTP, FTPS, SFTP, Amazon S3, Google Sheets, Webhooks, and URL-based connections. Each connection type has validated credentials and can be tested before saving.
All connection credentials are encrypted using AES-256-GCM before being stored in the database. The encryption key is managed separately and never included in backups or logs.
Yes. SyncForge supports Google Sheets as both an import source and export destination. You'll need to provide a service account key with access to the spreadsheet. See our tutorial for step-by-step setup.
⏰ Scheduling
In the Sync Center, create a Schedule by selecting an import or export template, choosing a Connection, and setting a cron expression (e.g., daily at 2 AM). SyncForge uses QStash for reliable background job execution.
Failed records are captured in the Dead Letter Queue (DLQ) for review. You'll receive an email notification (if enabled), and you can retry individual records or the entire batch from the job details page.
Scheduling frequency depends on your plan: Starter supports daily schedules, Pro supports hourly, and Enterprise supports every 15 minutes. All plans support manual one-time runs at any time.
🔒 Security & Privacy
Yes. SyncForge uses AES-256-GCM encryption for stored credentials, communicates exclusively over HTTPS/TLS, and follows Shopify's security best practices. Your data is processed in memory and not stored longer than necessary.
Yes. SyncForge includes built-in GDPR compliance tools: PII detection, data anonymization, and data deletion capabilities. We process data only as needed for the sync operations you configure.
SyncForge requests read/write access to the resources you want to sync. Permissions are scoped — we only request access to the specific resources you use. You can review all permissions during installation.
🛠️ Troubleshooting
Check the job details page for specific error messages. Common issues include: invalid field values (check data types), rate limiting (SyncForge auto-retries), or missing required fields. Failed records can be individually edited and retried.
SyncForge includes a Rate-Limit Shield that automatically throttles API calls based on your Shopify plan. If you're on Pro or Enterprise, the shield adjusts request timing automatically. On lower plans, try reducing batch sizes.
